Greetings All,

Seeking input for a 3-day/2-night trip into the Olympics for backpacking and experience for out-of-town guests. Any suggestions? I've scrutinized maps and simply don't have enough hands-on ONP experience for the trails to make decisions yet (hoping to change that after a June/July thaw!!!). Either way, if anyone knows about a trip option that captures any combination of the following, I'd be happy to read on: fishing, glaciers, rain forest, waterfalls, bear, elk, campfires, alpine, etc. (...and in no particular order!). --Mac

Hmm that is a hard one. The hoh is always a nice go. If you do it, I would probably spend the first day near at about mile 9 near the rangers hold up. Next day Elk Lake, followed by a day hike up to blue glacier and back to Elk lake. Last day, hike from Elk lake out.

Better still, would be the coastal hike either from ozette or LaPush up to shi shi. You can check out both these reviews on the site.

Other than that, you might consider something on Rainier, since the views are just much better there.
