I personally have never been snowshoeing, but last winter on Mt. Pilchuk, there were a few people with them. I am sure once the snow makes it way lower, the majority of everyday trails will be pretty good. I have had snowshoes in my hand many times at REI, just for some reason haven't bought them yet.

There are two good locations, the first is Snoqualmie pass, Commonwealth Basin is a nice snowshoe and not too difficult. Denny Creek is another good location.

The other location I have found is up by Paradise on Mt. Rainier, where there are many choices.

One other thing these locations have going for them is that it isn't too difficult to get to the trailhead with a vehicle.

Has anyone been snowshoeing near Snoqualmie Pass lately? I'm interested in going this Sat. but am not sure about the snow conditions.

We went to Hurricane Hill 2 weekends ago and it was marginal. Thanks!

I haven't been this year, afraid work is taking a big chunk out of my recreation time. However given the weather would think the snow is at the least plentiful if not good. The weather has been fairly cold lately so that would seem to increase your chances of good snow. Might be worth checking out http://www.summitatsnoqualmie.com They have snow conditions and are in the area you are interested in.

Cheers,

John

I ended up snowshoeing Amabilis peak (exit #63) and it was great. You have the option of breaking your own trail or following the very well groomed xc ski trail. The groomed trail is a loop with great views at the top.

We went snowshoeing at Snow Lake (Snoqualmie Pass) and had a blast. Looked like quite a few people were forging their own trails so we ended up following some of those trails. Spent some time watching the backcountry skiers.
