I am registered to hike Mt Saint Helens in a few weeks and was looking for the hike on your website. I don't see one. I wanted to know if trekking poles or other equipment like gaiters are recommend.

A friend of mine did this hike last year. I seem to recall that gaters were a good idea since there is a lot of loose unconsolidated material which can get down in your boot.
As for hiking poles I would probably also bring them since it is like 4500 ft. I would also use the snow baskets since the material is so loose. John |
