I have looked at campmors website but have yet to order from them. I like to shop around in person and find exactly what I'm looking for, then look online to find it cheaper. That way I can be sure I'm ordering exactly what I want, and not paying through the nose for it.

I check for any trail warnings like lots of blow downs, slides, ect. I also check the road condition if I think it's a ways out there. I drive a honda civic and it doesn't like muddy gravel roads. If they don't have anything recent I'll try to find the trail I'm looking for on another website.

Got around to buying a new pair of boots. I settled on a midweight pair with gortex liner and nubuck leather uppers. Sales woman told me not to fuss with any conditioning/waterproofing for 3-6 months. What do you think? I bought nikwax cleaner and nubuck leather waterproofer but have only used the cleaner as of yet. How long should I wait to treat with waterproofer, and how often to reapply? Is any other conditioner necessary? I don't care how cool the boots look, discoloration of the leather is not an issue. My main concern is the longevity and waterproofness of the boot. Thanks for any ideas!

My preference would be to include pass information, dog info, and general crowd size. Trail quality is nice to know, but as that is everchanging I usually refer to recent trip reports or the forest service website for that. Love the site, I also refer to it often to plan my weekend dayhikes. Thanks!

Interested in learning a little about snowshoes. I tried to hike Green mountain last sunday and couldn't finish the last stretch to the summit because of the snow. The well prepared hikers ahead of me had snow shoes, and just took them off and threw them onto their packs when they got out of the snow. Any suggestions for what to look for in a good pair?

I'm looking to buy a good pair of boots. I'm getting more serious about hiking regularly, and I'm willing to pay for a decent pair. I don't however, want to pay too much for the wrong boot for me. I would really like something with better waterproofing than the boots I'm wearing now. Any tips for what to look for would help.

I tried Boulder River recently. It was muddy, but otherwise a very nice hike. I have a book I look to for snow free trails. Winter Hikes in puget sound & olympic foothills. Book is written by Bob Mooers and features mostly snow free trails. You can buy the book @ www.SasquatchBooks.com
